Why Choose the Manufacturing Engineering Technologies Program?

Graduates of theÌýManufacturing Engineering Technologies (MET)Ìýdegree & certificateÌýprogramsÌýareÌýindustry-ready professionals with the knowledge & skills to increase domestic and global manufacturingÌýefficiency.ÌýStudentsÌýwill accomplish thisÌýthrough optimal use ofÌýmodern and cutting-edge manufacturing &Ìýautomation technologies, such as:Ìý

  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) & Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software programsÌý
  • Manual machining processes (lathes, mills, surface grinders, tool & cutter grinders, etc.)Ìý
  • Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Machining & Turning Centers (CNC Mills & Lathes)Ìý
  • Additive Manufacturing (AKA 3D-Printing)Ìý
  • Industrial & Collaborative RobotsÌý(FANUC,ÌýKuka, UR, Omron, etc.)Ìý
  • Advanced Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, includingÌýGenerative DesignÌý&ÌýFinite Element AnalysisÌý(FEA)
  • Advanced programming techniques, including Subroutines, Macros,Ìý&ÌýLogicÌý
  • Other CNC Machines:ÌýWaterJet, Plasma, Laser, & Coordinate-Measuring Machines (CMM)Ìý

Today’s Manufacturing Engineers &ÌýTechnicians mustÌýalsoÌýpossess a broader range of skills and knowledgeÌý– beyond the traditional “machinist†skillsetÌý–Ìýin order toÌýbe successful in their careers. These skillsÌýfocusÌýon the entire manufacturing processesÌýof components and assemblies throughout a factory, from raw material to finished products.ÌýTo accomplishÌýthis,Ìýstudents will learn & practically-apply innovative manufacturingÌýengineeringÌýtechniques, including:Ìý

  • The Engineering Design ProcessÌý& project planning, organization, & execution
  • Design for X (DFX) principles, such as Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Sustainability (DFS), & Design for AutomatedÌýAssembly (DFAA)Ìý
  • Lean Manufacturing / Toyota Production System (TPS)
  • SiemensÌý“Systems Approachâ€ÌýmethodologyÌý

Students who complete theÌýManufacturing Engineering Technologies AAS-T Degree will alsoÌýhaveÌýtheÌýabilityÌýtoÌýfurther their educationÌýat any time following graduation,Ìýby enrolling in our Bachelor of AppliedÌýScienceÌýin Mechatronics Engineering Technology and Automation (BAS–META) –Ìýthe firstÌýBachelor’sÌýdegree inÌýmechatronics to be offeredÌýin the Pacific NW.ÌýLearn more about the BAS-META program at the link.
